Time is critical in an emergency! Over time, the house numbers on many mailboxes and residences in our fire protection district have become faded, covered up or worn away. This makes it increasingly difficult for responders – first aid, fire and police – to find your home in an emergency. The minutes lost while searching for you or your loved ones could even mean the difference between life and death. As Members of your local volunteer fire company who respond to your emergency calls, we would like to put up reflective address signs at the driveways of each residence, to assist us in reaching you in a timely manner. In order for us to respond quickly to your emergency, we recommend that you have your house number posted conspicuously at the road, using a minimum of two-inch (2″) high reflective numbers. The house number should be clearly visible from both directions, and not obscured by trees, shrubs, bushes, mailboxes or other delivery boxes. The Wales Center Volunteer Fire Company is offering complete kits, including the sign (with reflective numbers on both sides), the steel post, and all necessary hardware for a cost of $20.00 per kit.
